The Victoria Falls:
As one of the natural wonders of the world and a recognised World Heritage Site The Victoria Falls is considered to be one of the great natural wonders of the world. There are a few falls elsewhere which are higher, but none equal the grandeur of the waters of the Zambezi River as they rush over the thousand metre wide expanse into the chasm below; for a breathtaking panoramic view of it all take a walk along the famous Knife Edge footbridge.
The Victoria Falls is located in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. The Park was created not just to protect wildlife in the area but also to preserve the Victoria Falls. It is Zambia's smallest national park and understandably the most visited.
Apart from the Victoria Falls which is a "must" for every visitor to see, Zambia has two of the largest areas in Africa set aside for the preservation of wildlife - the Luangwa and the Kafue National Parks. Both reserves offer the unique opportunity to view game at very close quarters. |
