The huge diversity of wildlife offers the best game viewing opportunities whilst on your Zambia safari. You can opt for a walking safari, with professional guides and an armed scout, or a game drive. Whatever you choose, you are sure to see the wonderful variety of game that live in the area during your Zambia vacation.

Bird watching is superb in the Valley. The ever-present sound of the birds in the Valley takes some getting used to. An early caller is the ground hornbill, looking like a well-dressed turkey, but emitting the sound of a deep base drum.

The melodious Heuglin’s Robin, the shrill cry of the Fish Eagle and the background cooing of doves and larks. With about 400 of Zambia’s 732 species of birds appearing in the Valley, including 39 birds of prey and 47 migrant species, there is plenty for the birdwatcher to spot, whatever the season.

Among the more common trees in the valley are the mopane, leadwood, and winterthorn, some beautiful specimens of baobab, large ebony forests, the tall vegetable ivory palm, marula and the magnificent tamarind tree.

Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Buffalo and Giraffe are just some of the species of animals you can view. Ardent photographers will be in their element on their Zambia safari as they can shoot fantastic pictures of these animals in their natural environment.

Whilst on the subject of photography, please ensure you have enough film and batteries, as these are not always available locally. A high speed film and a telephoto lens of at least 200mm is recommended, Recharging facilities for video equipment exists at most camps. Please bring your own adapter and recharger.
