Owned and operated by the Cumings Family since it opened in 1989, Chiawa Camp was the first Zambia lodging to be established in the Lower Zambezi National Park. It remains the only camp in the Park that is still owned by its founders.
Perhaps the best all round camp, with a fascinating history and conservation background too. Chiawa Camp lives up to its reputation for imaginative delivery and consistently high standards in all aspects.
Exceptional guiding and wildlife, a friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, personalised and efficient service, great accommodation, super food, a wonderful variety of safari activities, excellent vehicles and boats, reliable communications and logistics, make for not only an unsurpassed experience, but also a trouble-free one.
As a well known Zambia lodging, Chiawa Camp's aim is to provide its guests with Africa's finest safari experience whilst actively conserving the precious wildlife and habitat of the Lower Zambezi.
The camp was recently rebuilt. The sitenje (lounge/bar), dining room and bathrooms have all been redone. Guests can enjoy a dip in the resurfaced and tiled plunge pool after a hot day. Timber decks have been added to create warmth and luxury while a silent power generation inverter allows guests to use their fans and charge appliances throughout the night. Chiawa Camp is open from April 15 - November 15.
