Activities during your Zambia vacation are led by some of Africa’s most experienced guides and guests may choose from day and night game drives, nature walks, game viewing by pontoon boat, canoeing, and fishing (catch and release only). Transport includes 5 Toyota Land Cruisers, 4 motor boats and 6 canoes.
Other amenities on your Zambia vacation include a viewing hide overlooking the confluence of the Zambezi River and the seasonal Chowe River – favoured watering site of numerous mammals and birds, and a unique “amphitheatre” that is a cosy boma in the cooler months which becomes a rustic but refreshing plunge pool in the hot months. A small gift shop has safari wear, film and toiletries available.
A day in the life of your Zambia vacation starts with a choice of tea / coffee / hot chocolate / juice delivered to your tent about 15 minutes before sunrise. Then you meet by the campfire for a light breakfast and depart for morning safari activity.
You return to camp about 11am and a brunch buffet with optional full English breakfast is served midday. Then siesta or relax in one of the observation hides until afternoon tea which is served around 15:30 with sweet and savoury snacks before the afternoon activity which usually culminates in an exhilarating night drive returning to camp at about 20:00.
Drinks and snacks are served at the bar or by the camp fire until a 4 course dinner, usually with the choice of a main dish, is served. Coffee and liqueurs are offered after dinner and guests typically turn in for the night, after a full, satisfying day around 22:00.
Chiawa Camp specialises however in making every day a unique and special occasion. Chiawa Camp has an unblemished safety record and takes precautions to maintain this. You are given comprehensive briefings upon arrival and before activities. All activities are led by qualified and experienced guides with First Aid training.
Each tent has a personal two-way radio for emergencies and these are scanned 24/7 by Chiawa Camp management. This allows Chiawa Camp to have 24 hour contact with the rest of the world.
