About Zambia:Zambia is a fascinating country, boasting a number of stunning attractions and magnificent scenery. Apart from the most spectacular views of the Victoria Falls, Zambia is home to some of Africa's finest game reserves, an abundance of plant and animal life, waterfalls, wetlands, sparkling lakes, rivers and exciting sporting activities. Zambia boasts the earth's biggest waterfall, the Zambezi River and various lakes, rivers, birds and wildlife.
The country is known as one of the safest countries in the world to visit due to the peaceful nature of the Zambian people. All of the Zambian people live together in harmony, irrespective of race, age, sex, religion or beliefs. Is Zambia Family Friendly?Zambia is becoming a lot more family orientated than it was in the past, especially in Livingstone, which is situated in the Zambezi River next to the Victoria Falls. There are also some other properties, particularly in the South Luangwe National Park, which are oriented to the needs of the family.
However, most of the activities, e.g. river rafting, bungi jumping, abseiling, canoeing, river surfing, Tiger fishing and walking safaris only allows guests 16 years and older. Guests who participate in these activities also need to be fit and healthy in order to fully enjoy themselves.
In the game parks large numbers of animals roam around freely. These include Buffalo, Lion, Hyena, Wildebeest, Bushbuck, Zebra, Warthog, Baboon, Monkey, Puku, Impala, Elephant, Leopard and Cheetah. The animals are more afraid of humans than we are of them, so if guests remain calm, peaceful and respectful they will be guaranteed an enjoyable and safe experience.
Some of the parks are relatively underdeveloped, especially the roads. A good example is Kafue National Park which is raw, wild and diverse. The many lakes and rivers of Zambia are inhabited by Crocodile, Hippo and Water Monitors.
All of the safaris are led by competent, efficient, knowledgeable and well trained guides; however, it can get long and difficult if you are not fully prepared, restless or not interested in wildlife and nature. |
